Our first (traditional) drop out the ◢sidehatch. is Santa Fe based chandler baxton tipton’s expansive LP “YICOLAS”. So much can be said about this record: this is frenetic drill n bass but groovy, juke adjacent, hip hop aware, experimental af pre/post/mid rave bangers.

I say expansive because over 19 tracks (but at a lean 45 minutes) tipton really gives us a broad taste of his ability, vision, and range. It’s really heartstopping stuff - often on the edge of overwhelming but then a gorgeous beach side cocktail sipping sample swoops in or some funky bit of beautiful synth lead craft reminds us we’re here to get down.
